One of the best ways to liven up a room is by adding a focal point on which everything revolves around on. Focal points allow the room to have a solid feel, but cozy and inviting. Examples of focal points can be a fireplace or a set of photos hung on the wall, a couch or bed, an armoire (a large closet), a work of art like a painting or sculpture, a window with a view, and the like. A focal point is always the highlight of the room, and everything else simply supports it, allowing for a balance to emerge. This will also prevent you from overloading a room with too much display or designs, which only serve to give the space a heavy atmosphere, cluttered even, which just makes it look stuffy.
Some well placed mirrors would greatly benefit your kitchen by bringing in much needed light you might have to compensate for with electrical lighting. Some experts even use them to make small spaces look larger by creating the illusion of space. Mirrors are great reflectors of sunlight so when you get down and decide to renovate your kitchen or other interior spaces, tell your designer to include some of them to improve the lighting characteristics of your space.
Small drab rooms can be given new light with larger windows that brings in more fresh air and light saving you a lot especially during the daytime when you would otherwise have a light or two open for illumination. Sky-lights are also nice but tend to be problematic when it comes to leaks and other waterproofing issues. you can also select lighter shades of color for your paint to get more light to play into the room, it also makes it look larger.

Your budget might not be able to churn out an oasis, but you can fix the place up and just make it a relaxing room to be in - and you don’t need a million bucks to do it! The absolute must in this room is a warm, cozy bed with fresh sheets and pillow cases of course! It is not advisable to give your guest the most saggy mattress you have. If your budget does not allow a new or good second hand bed, an option is a good quality air mattress which can be put on the floor. Getting new beddings with attractive designs can do wonders for your guest room. It is wise to always have an extra set of bed and bath linens available for your guests. In some cases, there are guests who insist on changing the sheets when they leave, let them and thank them graciously for doing it. Provide your guest a space or luggage rack or a bench, to put down a suitcase or overnight bag.The idea is to provide your guest with as much space as you can. Remove anything un useful in that room. Leave only the wall or bedside clock and a calendar. Provide ample lighting in your guest room. Dim lighting could render a room drab or unappealing. There should also be a night lamp by the bed so that your guests wouldn’t be fumbling or stumbling in the dark at night. It would also be great if you can provide a small writing table and a lamp with it, should your guest need it. A place to hang your guest’s clothes and drawer space wouldn’t go amiss. Make sure your guest has privacy. A curtain or blinds to cover the window can be used.
